I started looking for a Sprinter van at the end of 2019 and came across Cardiff Campervan while doing research.  Then the pandemic happened, and I thought it better to hold off for a while.  I finally started looking again at the beginning of the year and doing my research on the various build options available.  After viewing everything from the Winnebago’s to the Storyteller models, I realized I did not want a van with everything built in permanently.  I finally came across Cardiff Campervan again and after reviewing some of their build blogs, remembered why I was attracted to them in the first place.  Korey’s focus on functionality and quality was what I was looking for.

2024 Sprinter 144 AWD

Korey at Cardiff Campervan built out our Sprinter van in early 2024 and we couldn't be happier with the results.   Our build included adding Smartfloor for extra passenger seating, electrical, upholstery, bed, roof rack, ladder, step and more.  All the components are top notch and installed beautifully.  The van is quiet, warm in winter, well-lit, and has great flooring as well.  Korey's knowledge made the process extremely easy and he takes the time to walk you through the build and answer questions and advise.   All communication was very clear and timely and the process is really turnkey.  The best part of a great experience is we felt the individual attention Korey gives each build.  We have already been out camping twice in the first month thanks to the awesome heater we never knew we needed.  Many thanks, Korey.

What did you think of the service: After watching Korey build out my son’s Sprinter van with all the creature comforts and amenities, and having bought my own Sprinter last spring, he was the natural choice for a full build out at a reasonable cost. He worked me into his schedule sooner than expected, and on the way home after pickup, I felt like I was driving a camper limousine…fully insulated floor and above…no road noise—none to interfere with the new surround sound system. Korey is very skilled at the work itself, however, his strength is listening and advising on your build at each phase so the outcome is what you’d expect. Korey is a solid choice without a doubt. You can say I’m one happy camper ready to hit the road from San Diego to wherever. Thanks.

This time around I had an Espar heater, Aluminess step tread, driver swivel seat, overhead l-tracks for AW mule bags and fog light wiring installed. Good people. Picked up this cool modular plug and play sink. These things are tiny, but they serve a purpose. With a family of six you run out of room quick. When your customer or “wife” says I want a sink, but you know you don’t have the room, think again. What I love is that it’s so light. I can travel with it in one spot in the van and then when you’re at the campsite, you can literally pick the thing up and move it to your location of choice. It’s all self-contained.

Pump, 12v plug, two jugs of water and some storage, and no swing door clearance needed. Especially right now with COVID, who want to wash their hands at a truck rest stop😳.

This was our first experience buying a stock Promaster cargo van and having it converted to a basic weekender campervan.  We are 100% pleased with the work Korey at Cardiff CamperVan did for us.  Korey finished the project ahead of schedule and charged us less than quoted.  We wanted a fully upholstered and insulated van, with a platform bed and simple sink cabinet, but with only minimal electrical and no lighting. My van replaced a 2005 truck with a Cab over camper shell. That I bought brand new. So what was most important to me was that I was able to talk to Korey and get the things that I needed. I had been considering the upgrade for three years. It wasn’t until I ran across one of his used vans and began talking and I was able to solidify my decision. I worked with Korey at Cardiff Campervan after speaking with a number of other van-build companies.  Korey had an interesting approach to the interior walls and ceiling being material such as felt that is often found in the trunk of cars.  It looks great.  Korey finished his work exactly on time and at the price we agreed.  We were able to keep the interior van height and width to the maximum using his approach.  Korey’s approach was also the only van-build company with removable interior panels on the walls and ceiling which allowed me to later add insulation, sound proofing, and electrical wiring.  Korey was very informative and consulted with me about the work I was going to do on my van.  I would definitely suggest you talk to Korey about your van project.

He is very knowledgeable, he listens to what you will be using your van for and makes recommendations based on those needs for your build (no up selling or recommending extra items that you won't end up using for your van). I had a very simple/functional build out done on my 2015 sprinter crew van (full sound deadening, full insulation, maxx air fan, rear upper wall panels, 12v outlets, and auxiliary battery installed) to make it a perfect "weekender" for beach days and short camping trips. Believe the hype. Korey is unlike any other van upfitter I’ve met. From the moment I read the ABOUT US section on his website, I knew I had to meet the man behind California Campervan. He keeps it simple and straightforward. He’s not going to try to upsell you on all the crazy, expensive features you could add to your van (and rarely use), but instead focuses on that brilliant basic functionality you will use and appreciate when you’re out exploring.

 

We already had a pop top installed in our Mercedes Metris passenger van, but we wanted to build a simple, elevated bed behind our passenger seats that could accommodate our 7 year old son and give us a place underneath to store our camping gear. Being a small, passenger van, it definitely presented some challenges, but Korey brought the initial vision to life and then some. Our son loves hanging out in his custom bed. It looks so pro, friends and family think the van just came like that. Do yourself a favor and call Korey first before moving forward with your van conversion.

I was referred to Korey by a true van / Baja enthusiast a few days before I was going to drop my van off with a larger van upfitting company, and I am so glad I went with Korey. Working with Korey was instantly an entirely different experience then dealing with a salesmen.  He has so much first hand knowledge that it only took one conversation for us to figure out what I wanted.  He was very budget conscious, and helped me get my van dialed in for my intended use while maximizing the money I had to spend.  You can tell Korey takes great pride in his work and really enjoys what he does, and this came across in both his craftsmanship and customer service. It's a pleasure working with someone who truly treats your project as their own, and that is the easiest way to sum up my experience with Cardiff campervans.

Korey was able to take my new 2018 sprinter 144 crew van and build it exactly exactly how I had envisioned it. Prior to the build he took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns, of which I had many! He added an elevated bed, solar, interior lights, swivel seats, 12 volt outlets and a separated battery charging system. His work was clean, detailed and fairly priced. I would recommend him to any of my friends who need a van build.

The van is great; the bed installation, bench mount table, roof vents, solar panels, second battery, lighting, ladder and insulation make a huge difference. The van is quieter and much more utilitarian for a multitude of uses.

Your craftsmanship, knowledge of the van, systems and components you installed is excellent. And you worked quickly, efficiently, on time and on budget.  It was worth my drive to and from San Diego from northern California (along with airfare) for you to do the work.

Overall, I would say Korey is the best I have seen with quality of work and professionalism for my Sprinter build.  I only had a few things done by other people and Korey was the only one who finished on time and did quality work that I would not be able to do myself.  As an example, I paid to have my stereo put in by an expensive audio specialist shop and it took three return trips to have them finish hooking up my front speakers, connecting the backup camera and then the USB charger.  I added all the new speakers and all they had to do was install the headset but I am still not pleased with the work.  Korey uses quality parts that he has extensive experience working with and if you have talked with him at all you will see he has a passion to build the best.  I received much more in the advice and experience Korey shared than anything I got done on my sprinter.   He is a great guy and even gave me a new mat when he had a little rip in my floor mat after removing it.  He did not have to do that but it is one example of him taking care of all the little details.

First I must say that my situation is a little different than most conversion vans, as I converted my wife’s work van, so whatever Korey did, it had to be taken apart on short notices she could use it.

1. was the van delivered on time? Yes, it was. we had a few delays but they were of my making, as I changed some things as we were going. korey changed my van from an old rattle trap, to a quality camper van, with all of the amenities and I am stoked about the result. I am extremely happy about Korey’s communication and because it was a special order we had to communicate all the time, and he never left me hanging, and told me up front,what the costs would be.  Would you recommend Cardiff campervan to a friend? Absolutely! I have already, and plan to in the future. This guy is no joke and will treat you right. I have done three trips since I got the van done and I am thrilled with the van and the effort from Korey to make it right.

Korey and I spoke over a few months period and he appeared very knowledgeable! I brought my van down to have him install two six volt batteries and wire them up so I can finish the electrical. He did an amazing job in less time than expected! The battery's he normally purchases were unavailable so he footed the bill on batteries that cost $100 more. The workmanship was amazing. He's very detailed. Plus Korey doesn't push for you to have him work on your vehicle. He will motivate and show you how to do stuff on your own!
